The requirements for a camping house tent can vary depending on the specific needs and preferences of the individual. However, our tent houses have the following features.

  1. Durability: Our Wilderness tent homes are made from ARMY DUCK DOUBLE-FILL CANVAS. The highest quality canvas made. Canvas is made by weaving threads together crosswise and lengthwise. The Army Duck canvas has 2 threads twisted together, making 1 thread. These double-twisted threads are woven into the canvas, going both crosswise and lengthwise. Twisting 2 threads together into 1 makes Army Duck canvas stronger, more durable, and also allows the canvas to breathe better. Army Duck canvas is very durable. It withstands various weather conditions and provides long-term use for your tent house.
  2. Weather Resistance: Army Duck canvas is designed to resist wind, rain, and other weather elements. Marine-grade water-resistant treatment is applied to every model of our Wilderness tents. Additionally, a fire-resistant treatment is an option when ordering a camp house tent. I strongly recommend that the fire treatment be included with whatever tent you purchase. It is cheap insurance. — Rich, Owner.
  3. Ventilation: Adequate ventilation is essential to prevent condensation and maintain a comfortable atmosphere inside the tent. Our Wilderness camping tent house has an optional back window, side windows, and front and back screen doors. The amount of ventilation required is based on your climate.
  4. Size and Layout: Tent homes should be spacious enough to accommodate the desired number of occupants comfortably. Our Wilderness model camping tent house has sizes 8’ x 10’, 10’ x 12’, 12’ x 14’, 14’ x 16’, 16’ x 20’, and 16’ x 24’. The first number is the width, and the second number is the length. You need to consider the layout for sleeping, sitting, cooking, and storage when determining size. View camping house tent sleeping capacity that explains the tent house size vs sleeping capacity.
  5. Camping House Tent Frame: We offer a complete steel tent frame. Also, a tent frame angle kit if a person wants to buy steel conduit and use the angle kit to make a complete frame.
  6. Camp Tent House Accessories Available: Tent tarp/fly to protect the roof, vinyl floor, coat racks to attach to the tent frame, cook shack or porch that attaches to the front of the tent.
  7. Quality Workmanship: Wall Tent Shop has a 2-year warranty. We have a high-quality camping tent house. Other companies normally have a 1-year guarantee.

6' SIDE WALL OPTION

6' side walls provide much more headroom and usable tent space. 6' walls allow a person to get next to a wall without hitting their head against rafters or canvas roof.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS A CAMPING HOUSE TENT?

A camp house tent is usually associated with glamping tents that are used for permanent or semi-permanent living in a tent house. These same tent homes can also be used for shorter periods of time. A camping house tent looks similar to a house. It normally has vertical sidewalls and a steep roof that comes to a peak.

Types of camping house tents are wall tents, canvas tents, glamping tents, spike tents, and hot tents.

The most common type of tent that it looks like is a wall tent. It is designed for maximum space and comfort. A wall tent house normally has 5’ side walls for maximum headspace, unlike a dome tent that has a rounded shape with a low ceiling. This type of tent is very popular with large groups or families, as it provides much more usable space than other tents that have only 2- or 3-foot side walls.

The Wilderness Tent is our primary camp house tent. It is the strongest and most durable tent available.

WHAT TYPE OF MATERIAL IS USED IN ITS CONSTRUCTION?

Most are made of high-quality 10.1oz canvas. This canvas is not made in the U.S. The canvas is mostly imported from Pakistan, India, and China. The Wall Tent Shop does not import any products from China due to China’s unfair trade practices. Synthetic materials such as nylon, polyester, and relite can also be used in its construction.

ARE CABIN HOUSE TENTS WATERPROOF?

Almost all companies state that their tent houses are waterproof. However, a better statement would be water-resistant. The canvas used to make these tent homes has thousands of needle holes in the seams in each section sewn together. These canvas needle holes normally close when the canvas becomes wet and shrinks. Personally, I always have a tarp over the tent to ensure no water drips from the roof during rainy weather. It only takes several of the thousands of needle holes not to close properly to quickly ruin a camping trip. Synthetic tent needle holes do not close like canvas. The synthetic tent house must be sprayed with a seam sealer or tape used on each seam. Again, I use a tarp, commonly called a fly, to use as another water barrier to ensure any tent I use is totally waterproof.

ARE CAMPING HOUSE TENTS BEST FOR CAR CAMPING OR BACKPACKING?

They are best used for car camping. These tents can weigh between 40 to 100 lbs, depending on size and material used. Quality backpacking tents are made of thin nylon material that weigh between 3-10 lbs with easy setup. Also, house tents require an internal frame, which can weigh 30 to 90 lbs, depending on the tent size. Another factor in frame weight is whether the frame is made of steel or lightweight aluminum.

...awkward book to rate...
Format: Kindle
This is an awkward book to rate as: the facts all seem to be there, hut the presentation is a touch below par for a 'Captivating History' book. There is a light garnish of literary and grammatical errors, a dose of waffle here and there, the chronology can jump back and forth and - I may have been distracted, but: I do not recall reading about what ultimately happened to Haile Selassie Most of the final, extended, chapter just repeats what has previously been covered. STILL - it's a most interesting period in history.

A not often studied part of African history
Format: Kindle
This book presents the history of Ethiopia up to the Italian invasion as a backdrop giving the culture and the nature of the Ethiopian Empire. Ethiopia has a history of more than 3,000 years and converted to Christianity about the same time that the Roman Empire did. During the medieval period remained strong in Christianity and traded with the East as well as with medieval Europe. It was one of the most advanced countries in the world at that time. When Italy started trying to build up an empire and catch up because of its lag behind the rest of Europe in Empire building, Ethiopia was one of the last parts of Africa that was not yet a colony of a European power. Italy and made a failed attempt at conquering Ethiopia but when Mussolini took power in Italy he decided to rebuild the grandeur of Roman Empire. This book takes you through the war with Italy and tells it from the Ethiopian side as well as presenting some of the concepts of the Italian side as well. Hey you will also become acquainted with the major players on both sides of the Italian Ethiopian war. It is well researched and it describes the war, the struggle that both the Ethiopians and the Italians had during the war and the final conclusion and how the war ended. The book has been well researched and is very interesting. I found this to be an excellent book to explain the war in North Africa as well as the struggle for independence of the Ethiopians. This is a book that I would like to have had when I was teaching world history. I highly recommend this book and feel that it is a great addition to anyone's library.

A little-mentioned history
Format: Kindle
Captivating History has released a publication that tells of the period when Italy, under the government of Mussolini, invaded Ethiopia and overthrew the government of Haile Salassee. This war was revenge for Italy's loss against Ethiopia in 1896 but weakened Italy which helped its decision to align with Hitler. For Ethiopia, the invasion represented a major setback, as it lost its independence and became subject to Italian colonial rule until the defeat of Italy in World War II. Haile Selassie returned to Ethiopia in 1941 after the British, in alliance with Ethiopian resistance fighters, liberated the country. The Italian invasion of Ethiopia remains a significant event in African history, highlighting the consequences of colonial aggression and the limitations of international diplomacy in preventing such conflicts. It also played a role in shaping Ethiopia's determination to regain its sovereignty and become a symbol of African resistance against colonialism. This is a worthwhile read as it explores a little-known facet of African history.

Here’s a strong Amazon-style headline for your review:

“A Clear, Engaging, and Accurate Overview of
Format: Kindle
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is an excellent read! It provides a well-organized and concise summary of Ethiopia’s entire history, which is no small task given the country’s rich and complex past. The writing is consistent, informative, and historically accurate, making it easy to follow and deeply engaging. I especially appreciate how it also includes insights into Eritrea’s history, offering a broader understanding of the region. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a solid, accessible introduction to Ethiopian and Eritrean history. Captivating History did a fantastic job!

A compact history
Format: Paperback
Sometimes we want to take a historical subject that we know little about and get a brief gloss to learn enough to discover which parts of the subject we want to delve into at greater length. "History of Ethiopia" is exactly what we need to satisfy that desire. We get the entire history of the African nation, from the very ancient days up to this very year, 2022. naturally, we do not get many nuances. What we do get is the big picture. We know how the various periods in history fit together. From the Queen of Sheba to the nasty era of the Communist Derg, we get a little bit of everything. One irritation that I had was the coverage of the Ethiopian-Somalia war in the 1970s. The crucial role played by the Cuban army is committed entirely. On the other hand, the 1540 Portuguese expedition headed by Christopher da Gama is briefly but adequately covered. Save for the intervention of da Gama the kingdom might well have been lost. If you need a fast introduction to Ethiopia, this is a good place to begin. Captivating History, the maker, has dozens of similar books, often on specific, narrowly focuses topics.
